Today , I was testing installation of Lync Server 2013 preview , for this test I used Windows Server 2012 RC as OS for Lync 2013 preview frontend server .
When I came to “Prepare Single Standard Edition Server” step I got a failure , as below :
For Windows Identity Foundation the only available for download packages ( Which can be found here ) are only for Windows server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
If you downloaded that for Windows 2008 R2 ( 6.1 ) and tried to install – just for fun - you will get the following error :
After a little bit of search , I found that Windows Identity Foundation is already embedded with Windows 2012 ( as a feature ) , see below :
Once installed , Single Standard Edition Server preparation proceeded as it should
