Bye Bye , Hotmail and welcome Outlook.com

Are you a Hotmail user ? If so , get ready for a new era with Microsoft shifting to Outlook.com . As Microsoft unveiled a major update to its consumer mail platform today, with a new look, a slew of new features, and a new name that is surprisingly familiar , Outlook.com.

Unintentional deletion of mails from the Exchange Server while using Outlook 2013 Preview

As Microsoft released the preview for Office 2013 and although it is not targeted for production environments a lot of IT guys do – use it in production – and I am one of them .

One of the disasters that may cause you to change your mind and use it only within test labs is the unintentional deletion of mails from the Exchange server permanently while using Outlook 2013 preview ! . Yes, all your mails maybe deleted .

In order to overcome this , Microsoft had released an update that all users of Office 2013 Professional Plus (Preview) version of Outlook should install .

Microsoft unveils the new Office 2013 Customer Preview ( aka Office 15 )

Today , Steve Ballmer ( Microsoft Corp. CEO ) unveiled the customer preview of the new Microsoft Office.

Office 2013 was designed to be at its best on Windows 8 :

• Touch everywhere : Office responds to touch as naturally as it does to keyboard and mouse. Swipe your finger across the screen or pinch and zoom to read your documents and presentations. Author new content and access features with the touch of a finger.

• Inking : Use a stylus to create content, take notes and access features. Handwrite email responses and convert them automatically to text. Use your stylus as a laser pointer when presenting. Color your content and erase your mistakes with ease.

Microsoft Outlook Configuration Analyzer Tool 2.0 is here

As posted earlier here for OCAT version 1.0 , the second version of Outlook Configuration Analyzer Tool (OCAT) provides a quick and easy method to analyze your Microsoft Office Outlook profile and mailbox for common configurations that may cause problems in Outlook. This can be very useful for busy Help Desk personnel when end-users call for help with Outlook or when you want to identify possible issues with Outlook proactively.

Outlook Anywhere (RPC/HTTP) settings are unavailable in the Outlook 2010 Group Policy template !!

One of our customer asked me about how he can set Outlook anywhere – RPC over HTTP – settings for all of his company users.

I simply answered that the best way to perform this action would be using of  group policy with Office 2010 administrative templates . We just downloaded Office 2010 Administrative Template files , imported it using Group Policy Management Console ( GPMC ).

Upon looking for Outlook Anywhere settings all what we can found was “Configure Outlook Anywhere user interface options”
